Risk: Medium
Percentage bankroll
A fixed share of the current bankroll is staked, so bets grow after wins and shrink automatically after losses.
How it works
The percentage never changes — the money does, because the bankroll moves.
Losing runs automatically de-risk: each loss makes the next stake smaller.
Mathematically the bankroll can never reach zero from percentage staking alone.
Formula
stake = current_bankroll × stake_pct
- current_bankroll — This strategy's own live bankroll
- stake_pct — Share of it risked per bet, e.g. 2%
Exactly how BetBuddy implements it
Percentage bankroll staking risks a constant share of the bankroll as it stands right now, so stakes grow after wins and shrink after losses without any decision being made.
Inputs used
- This strategy's own live bankroll
- Stake percentage (1%)
stake = current_bankroll × 1%
Limits and caps, applied in this order
- Bankroll share cap — no single stake may exceed 5% of that strategy's own live bankroll.
- Absolute cap — no single stake may exceed 10× the base stake (€100.00).
- Bankroll cap — a stake can never exceed the money the strategy actually has left.
- Minimum executable stake — below €1.00 the bet is declined and recorded as skipped, not rounded up.
Rounding: Two decimal places (cents). There is no €10 floor: a €998 bankroll stakes €9.98, not €10.00.
Bankroll behaviour: Fully compounding in both directions. Each win raises the base the next stake is calculated from; each loss lowers it, which de-risks losing runs automatically.
Sequence behaviour: Each stake depends only on the bankroll left by the previously settled bet — never on how that bet was won or lost.
Reset conditions: No reset exists. The percentage is fixed; only the bankroll it multiplies moves.
- Because the stake is proportional, the bankroll cannot mathematically reach zero from percentage staking alone.
- A stake under €1.00 is declined rather than executed at an unrealistically small size.
Documented against staking logic v2, from a €10.00 base stake. These figures are read from the same module the robot calls when it sizes a live paper bet.
How it behaves in production
- The bankroll used is this strategy's own isolated ledger. The four strategies never share money, so one drawdown cannot shrink another strategy's stakes.
- The bankroll is updated only when a bet is settled from a confirmed final score, so no stake is ever sized from an unsettled position.
Risk profile: Moderate. Smooth de-risking on the way down, slower recovery out of a drawdown.
Worked example from a €10 base stake
- Bankroll €1,000 at 1%: stake €10.
- After a €11 win the bankroll is €1,011, so the next stake is €10.11.
- After a €10 loss the bankroll is €1,001, so the next stake is €10.01.
If the bet wins: Wins raise the bankroll, so the next stake rises proportionally — profit compounds.
If the bet loses: Losses lower the bankroll, so the next stake falls. The bankroll cannot mathematically reach zero.
Reset conditions: No reset: the percentage is constant, only the bankroll it applies to moves.

Sample size: 84 settled selections. This is far too small a sample to draw conclusions from. Figures are published for transparency, not as evidence that any strategy is profitable.
Simulated bankroll: €1082.97 from a €1000.00 start. Betting ROI is net P/L ÷ total staked; bankroll return is net P/L ÷ starting bankroll. Paper mode — no real money is staked.
Advantages
- Compounds during winning runs
- Self-protecting during losing runs
Disadvantages and risk
- Slower recovery after a drawdown
- Stake changes make bet-by-bet comparison harder
Overall risk rating: Medium.
When this strategy suits
- Long sequences where compounding matters
- Bettors who want automatic de-risking during losing runs
- Comparing growth against a flat-stake baseline

Percentage bankroll — common questions
What is Percentage Bankroll betting?
A fixed share of the current bankroll — 1% in BetBuddy — is staked on each selection, so stakes grow after wins and shrink after losses without any manual adjustment.
What percentage of my bankroll should I bet?
A conservative, widely used range is roughly 1–2% per bet. Larger fractions raise growth in good runs but raise the chance of a deep drawdown far faster.
What happens to a betting strategy after a losing bet?
It depends on the rule. Fixed stake ignores the loss entirely, percentage bankroll and Kelly stake less because the bankroll shrank, and capped recovery increases the next request to clear the deficit — within its caps.
